Kewanna Riley is a graduate of Tougaloo College and holds a Master’s of Education from William Carey Univerisity. She is co-founder of the Community Empowerment Coalition. She is a fourth grade teacher at Bel-Aire Elementary School. She was the 2015-2016 Harrison County Schools Teacher of the Year.
Ja'Leasa N. Walden
Ja'Leasa N. Walden is a 2011 Cum Laude graduate of the historical Tougaloo College where she was a double major. Ja'Leasa earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in English and a Bachelors of Arts degree in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Journalism and Public Relations. Ja'Leasa is a member of the NAACP, Tougaloo Alumni Association, National Association of Black Journalist, and the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations. She is a member of Union Baptist Church, where she participates with the youth ministries.
Ceceila Shabazz is a graduate of Tulane University. Mrs. Shabazz currently works as Creative Director at the Focus Group in Gulfport, MS. Her team work has been recognized with 33 awards from the American Advertising Federation of Mississippi Gulf Coast Chapter’s 2016 ADDY Awards.
Noel Ballard is a graduate of the University of Alaska. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and is a Registered Nurse. She currently works as Executive Correspondence Specialist with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Biloxi, MS. Mrs. Ballard is also an OEF/OIF Air Force Veteran.
Christopher B. Fisher
Christopher B. Fisher is a graduate Millsaps College with a degree in Political Science. He attended Paul M. Herbert Law Center at Louisiana State University. He received his Juris Doctorate in 2000. He is an attorney with Fisher Law Group. Mr. Fisher is Former Assistant District Attorney, Second Circuit Court District. He is also past president of the NAACP-Gulfport Chapter.
Rasheeda Whitfield is a graduate of Tougaloo College and has a Bachelor’s degree in English. She also holds a Master’s in Public Health from University of Southern Mississippi. Rasheeda works as the Office Manager for Family Dental Care in Pascagoula, MS.
Tershara Matthews is a graduate of Xavier University with a degree in Biology. She also hold a Master’s in Public Health from University of Southern Mississippi. She also holds an Executive Leadership Certification from Harvard John F Kennedy School of Government. Tershara works as an Environmental Scientist Supervisor with Bureau of Ocean Energy Management in New Orleans, LA.
Okimo T. Williams
Okimo T. Williams is a graduate of Jackson State University and holds a degree in Social Work. She also holds a Master’s of Social Work from Southern University New Orleans, LA. She currently works as a Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate for Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS.
Dr. Persharon Dixon
Dr. Persharon Dixon is a board certified pediatrician. She received her medical degree from Moorehouse School of Medicine and completed her residency at Emory University both in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Dixon holds an executive MBA from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is a medical director for United Healthcare.
Nicole Harris is a graduate of the University of Memphis, where she earned a Bachelor's of Professional Studies. Originally from Memphis, Tenn., Nicole is currently a Digital Content Producer for WLOX News Now. Prior to moving to the Gulf Coast she served as the non-technical lead for the Memphis chapter of Black Girls Code.
